Battle Mountain library reopens; county library system reports circulation and digital access

Rebecca Lake, the BLM library specialist who presented an information update during the Jan. 6 meeting, told commissioners that Battle Mountain and Austin library branches together have 692 cardholders and more than 10,493 physical records across both locations. The Battle Mountain library had a grand opening attended by 93 people and, during the two-week soft opening in December, recorded 517 patrons.
Lake said the library system provides audiobooks and ebooks through the OverDrive Libby app, hosts about 5,000 digital magazines and is preparing programs including summer reading and an adult workshop scheduled for Jan. 30. Lake said she plans to attend two library conferences this year.
Commissioners thanked Lake for the update and attendees at the meeting complimented the library’s appearance and programming.
