Sheriff’s office removes training coordinator line item, returns duties to command staff; commissioners approve

Clinton County commissioners on Jan. 7 approved a departmental reorganization in the sheriff’s office that eliminates a dedicated shift supervisor/training coordinator line item and returns training duties to command staff.

Renee (last name not specified), a sheriff’s department official, told the board the department implemented a new Frontline training program and determined the extra training-coordinator duties no longer needed a separate line item. She said the employee who had carried both the shift supervisor and training coordinator duties resigned from the combined role and will remain as shift supervisor only.

Renee said she and Chris (last name not specified) will absorb training-coordinator duties using the Frontline system and that the department consulted the auditor’s office on the transfer. She told commissioners she will present the line-item transfer to the county council the following week.

Commissioners moved and seconded to approve the deletion/transfer of the position and associated funds; the transcript records the vote as "Motion carries 3-0." The board did not specify changes to job descriptions beyond reverting the position to a shift supervisor role.
