Trumbull County opens competitive bid process for Golden Triangle infrastructure projects totaling about $3 million

Trumbull County commissioners authorized competitive bidding for a bundle of infrastructure projects known as the Golden Triangle package, roughly $3 million in grant-funded improvements to roads and intersections serving a metals manufacturing cluster in Warren, Allen Township and Highlands Township.

County engineering and economic development staff described three contract portions: an intersection reconstruction at Larchmont Avenue and Bronze/Overland that will replace traffic signals and improve stormwater and truck circulation; pavement and stormwater upgrades on Bronze Road (a township road) and Highlands Road, including raising pavement depths; and a realignment at Dana Avenue to improve truck movements through an offset intersection.

Gary Schaefer (Gary Shafer in transcript), a Golden Triangle partner, and county staff said the projects have gathered grant funding over time and will be posted to the county website and partner channels to solicit competitive bids. County staff said the county will manage its portion, the city of Warren will oversee its portion, and the township will manage the township work.

Commissioners said the improvements aim to better move truck traffic through industrial areas and support local metal manufacturers that rely on heavy freight access.
