Haskell County firefighters press commissioners for clearer emergency coordination after large wildfire
At a county commissioners meeting, firefighters described a recent wind-driven wildfire that burned about 1,000 acres and destroyed nine structures, and urged the board to clarify the emergency manager's duties, update hazard-mitigation and emergency operation plans, and fund a generator to restore a downed radio repeater.

Jack Denny, chairman of the Haskell County Firefighters Association and chief of the Brooklin volunteer fire department, told the Haskell County Board of County Commissioners that a recent windstorm and fire left the county short of communications and coordination and that the county must update planning and support for volunteer departments.
