The Joint Finance‑Appropriations Committee approved corrected language Monday that restores a dropped subsection reference in the section of code governing the Idaho Commission for Libraries.
Brooke Dupree, a budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, told the committee that the letter “b” had been dropped during drafting and the correction ensures the provision points to the intended section of the Children’s School and Library Protection Act. “In our drafting process, the letter b was dropped and so this is just ensuring that it's pointing to the correct section of code as intended, the children's school and library protection act,” Dupree said.
A unanimous‑consent request to accept the language was objected to by Senator Wintrow; Representative Carlson then moved adoption. The committee recorded a total of 18 ayes and 2 nays across both chambers (Senate: 8 aye, 2 nay; House: 10 aye, 0 nay), and the motion carried a due‑pass recommendation.
The action amends only the drafting reference; lawmakers and staff said no other policy or funding changes were included in the correction. Because the change is a technical drafting fix, there was no extended debate on policy implications.
The committee proceeded to its next agenda item after the vote.
