The Idaho Senate Resources and Environment Committee approved an amendment to rule 50 of the state’s conjunctive-management rules to align the rule with Section 42-233(c) of the Idaho Code, the department said.
Eric Boe, Water Compliance Bureau Chief and Rules Regulation Officer for the Department of Water Resources, told the committee the amendment was initiated specifically to ensure continuity between rule and the statutory language that took effect July 1, 2024, clarifying the area having a common ground-water supply for the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer.
Boe said the department published the proposed amendment Oct. 2, 2024, and published the pending amendment without changes on Dec. 4, 2024. Senator Harris moved to approve docket 3703112401; Senator Cook seconded. The committee approved the amendment by voice vote.
The department presented the amendment as a targeted change to align administrative rule language with the statute enacted last year.
