The sponsor said the goal remains to create standards that promote transparency and protect civil liberties, but that relevant law-enforcement partners and state agencies had not been able to agree on the appropriate model policies. “There is not a disagreement as to whether or not we should be talking about how emerging technologies are being used. But maybe we don't necessarily have the great partner the best partner, on the departmental side to help us do this,” the patron said.
A motion to strike House Bill 2433 from the docket was made and seconded, and the subcommittee approved the request; the clerk noted the bill was stricken.
