Summary
The board adopted an ordinance expanding the Waterford Community Development District from about 296.39 acres to roughly 323.97 acres after staff found the petition met statutory criteria.
The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners adopted ordinance action Oct. 7 to expand the boundaries of the Waterford Community Development District (CDD), increasing the district from approximately 296.39 acres to about 323.97 acres.
Planning staff reported that the petition met statutory criteria: the land area is sufficient in size, compact and contiguous; the expansion is consistent with the local comprehensive plan; and the CDD is an appropriate mechanism for delivering infrastructure and services to the area. Petitioner representatives presented the boundary map and staff recommended approval.
Commissioners voted in favor by roll call; one commissioner noted opposition in principle to CDDs generally but supported the action based on statutory requirements. The ordinance passed 4‑0 (recorded roll call: Commissioners Ansler, Allocco, Champion, and Vice Chairman Campbell voting aye, with Champion noting an aye “under protest”).
