A West Slope resident and Public Works staff were the focus of discussion Oct. 22 as the Infrastructure Planning and Sustainability Committee received an informational briefing on the city's updated neighborhood traffic calming program.
Stuart Nussman, a Tacoma resident, told the committee he and neighbors in the Naramore/West Slope area are seeing a marked increase in cut-through traffic and high speeds. "I'm intimately familiar with everyday watching the traffic," Nussman said, citing the uncontrolled intersection at South Carl Johan Drive and Sunray Drive and urging the city to "do what they can as soon as they can to ... reduce the speed and also alert people to the need to be much more aware of the intersection." Nussman identified himself as living at 1536 South Fernside Drive.
