The Evanston City Council on Oct. 20 adopted revised parks language pulled from the city’s Parks & Open Space Strategic Plan and approved a council amendment that added two qualifying points: that 100% of residents live within a 10‑minute walk of a park (meeting a recognized benchmark for park access) and that the city’s overall green‑space supply nevertheless does not fully meet community needs, so the city should prioritize maintenance of existing parkland.
