Baker County commissioners voted to accept a $46,359.33 grant on a motion and second during their regular meeting, funding maintenance and backup capability for the county 911 system.
County staff presented the award as three items combined by the state Department of Management Services. Staff described the components as ECAT support, backup Mevo cellular phones for use if the wired 911 system is down, and annual support for data services. The presenter said the three parts total $46,359.33 and that there is no local match required.
Sarah (county staff) told commissioners the maintenance contract costs were already included in the budget, but the $7,000 for the Mevo phones was not. Sarah said the county is tracking grants and will complete any needed budget amendments once finance staff finish training to enter the awards into the county finance system.
Commissioners asked for assurance the expenditures were in the planned budget; staff said they are tracking the grants and will make budget updates once staff can input the awards into the finance system.
The motion to accept the grant carried with an oral aye vote. The board recorded no roll-call vote in the minutes.
The acceptance adds grant-funded redundancy for 911 operations; staff will incorporate the award in budget amendment work later this fiscal year.
