The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing nurse practitioners and declaring a week in November 2025 to honor their contributions to health care.
Mr. Carter read the resolution, which described nurse practitioners (advanced practice registered nurses) as providers with graduate education who deliver primary, acute and specialty care, promote prevention and health education, and help expand access to services. The text cited statewide licensing and the number of nurse practitioners practicing in Virginia and urged better utilization of nurse practitioners to improve access to affordable, high‑quality care.
Reverend Jones moved to approve the resolution; Mr. Hipps seconded, and the board approved the measure by voice vote.
The resolution recognizes the contributions of nurse practitioners and designates a week in November 2025 for observance; the resolution text and exact dates were read aloud by the sponsoring supervisor and entered into the meeting record.
