Ada County EMS district approves sole-source purchase and reports hiring academy, event coverage

Acting as the Ada County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) District, the board met Sept. 30 and approved a resolution to procure American Heart Association course completion cards on a sole-source basis.
The district opened a public hearing on Resolution 3132 for sole-source procurement, closed the hearing and approved the resolution by motion and voice vote. The district also approved claims, personnel actions, minutes and a set of eight renewal agreements listed on the EMS agenda.
In updates, EMS staff said the current hiring academy is the largest in recent memory and will bring new personnel into the field. Staff also reported a scheduled equipment or site update (the transcript refers to new equipment not fully ready for a 50th event) that should be completed the following week.
Board members and staff discussed recent large-event coverage where EMS personnel worked alongside Boise Police Department and private security to provide proactive on-site medical coverage and coordination for a multi-thousand-person event. Staff described the approach as proactive rather than reactive and praised interagency cooperation.
The district authorized staff to execute the approved agreements and to proceed with the sole-source procurement authorized by Resolution 3132.
