Marvin told the commission the work is needed because the new hardware requires reassignment of IP addresses assigned to the county’s equipment block. "Basically, that's a multi digit Internet address that translates into words. And so, Michael got a quote from Matrix for taking care of that work. It's just over $4,500," Marvin said. He added that the cost falls within savings realized on the new hardware and within the current budget, and that Matrix had already signed the agreement.
A commissioner moved to approve the Matrix agreement so the work could begin; the motion was seconded and approved on voice vote. Marvin said the county’s IT lead (referred to in the transcript as Michael) had reviewed the budget and concluded the migration cost was affordable within the existing allocation for the hardware.
