The Sheriff’s Office and county financial staff explained that prior payments for Axon equipment and services had come from a mix of sources, including donations and commissary funds, but the new contract’s first-year cost required a supplemental appropriation to the contract-services line. The auditor noted the county had placed $40,000 in contract services in the 2026 budget but that multiple contracts and rising obligations might require increasing that budgeted amount.
Commissioner Anton moved to appropriate the requested amount from the fund shown and Commissioner Joe seconded; the motion carried. Commissioners asked the auditor to track monthly or quarterly expenditures related to the Axon contract and to report back if other fund sources could cover portions of the contract.
