The board also approved an out‑of‑state overnight trip for the boys varsity golf team to compete in the South Plains Shootout in Hobbs, New Mexico (Rock Wind Links), Oct. 17–18; motion carried, 5–0.
Policies, prices and calendars: Trustees approved the Plainview ISD local wellness policy (a federal tri‑annual review requirement addressing nutrition standards, physical activity minutes and competitive‑food rules), the 2025–26 professional development calendar, and an increase in adult meal prices in school cafeterias to $5.20 for lunch and $3.40 for breakfast. District staff explained adult prices are set to at least match federal reimbursement methodology for districts participating in the Community Eligibility Provision. Each motion passed unanimously.
Consensus agenda and personnel: The board approved the consensus agenda (minutes from previous meetings) and acknowledged a personnel update noting the hiring of an additional first‑grade teacher and classroom setup at the Early Learning Center.
Next steps: For the cybersecurity pilot, district staff said they will wait for a funding commitment letter from USAC before issuing a purchase order and proceeding.
