Amber Blasinski, the zoning administrator, continued consideration of a proposed amendment to a development agreement for a LinkedIn office project at 700 and 800 East Middlefield Road and 1101 Mott Avenue, saying additional staff analysis and discussions with the applicant are needed before a decision.
The item would have asked to extend the term for phase 2 of an approximately 429,000-square-foot office development by five years. Diana Panchole, principal planner and project manager, told the hearing that the applicant had requested a continuance and staff would forgo a full presentation to allow further discussion between the city and the applicant. "Staff is going to forego a typical, project presentation and recommend that the item be continued to a future date," Panchole said.
Blasinski said she agreed with staff’s recommendation and moved to continue the item to a date uncertain. "I'm making a motion to continue this item to a date uncertain," she said. Blasinski noted that her role at this hearing is to make a recommendation to the city council, which has final authority to review and approve the proposed amendment.
The staff report states that the environmental impact report (EIR) for the project was adopted by the city council on Nov. 27 and that, according to staff, the proposed amendment to the development agreement would not alter conditions assessed in the adopted EIR and would not require additional environmental review. The staff recommendation to continue seeks time for the city and the applicant to clarify details of the amendment and for staff to complete its analysis before a formal hearing.
No members of the public provided comment on the item at this hearing. Blasinski said a new hearing date will be set and publicly noticed in accordance with the city's notice requirements when discussions conclude.
