The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2025-276 on Sept. 24 to adopt the county’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan, a county official said during the meeting.
The plan, presented to the board in the absence of the consultant Craig Whitman, covers multiple departments and inventories current accessibility measures and needed improvements. The presenter noted the plan is required for federal grant compliance and described examples of accessibility investments under way, including iPads and other audio aids for closed captioning and courts.
A speaker for the presentation told commissioners the plan focuses on unincorporated areas of Franklin County because most sidewalk and path infrastructure is limited there; the presenter said Pasco has its own transition plan and that a copy had been sent to the county. The plan has also been posted on the county’s website and commissioners invited public comment via email.
A motion to approve Resolution 2025-276 was made, seconded and passed by voice vote during the meeting. Commissioners said the plan will remain open to public comment and will guide future accessibility fixes and grant compliance across county departments.
