South Corridor nears launch; DTPW reports 95% construction completion and operational readiness work under way

The Miami‑Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works told the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust on Sept. 17 that construction of the South Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is substantially complete and operational readiness activities are largely finished ahead of an imminent service launch.
Alex Barrios, assistant director of construction for DTPW, said the corridor construction is about 95% complete and the agency is “scheduling the opening now.” Barrios asked board members attending a planned Friday tour to use the parking garage at Dadeland South (or ride the system) because surface access is limited while canopies and finishing work continue.
