Macomb County committee members voted unanimously to recommend to the full Board of Commissioners an addendum to the existing interlocal backup dispatch agreement with the City of Warren that permits Warren to upgrade systems at the county’s Comtech dispatch facility.
Staff said the addendum authorizes Warren to access the Comtech facility to upgrade equipment so that Warren and the county have improved interoperability between law enforcement mobile equipment and dispatch systems. County staff emphasized the change carries no cost to the county; vendors will perform most configuration work.
Commissioner Hall asked whether the backup arrangement works both ways; county staff confirmed Warren can serve as a backup to the county and vice versa when either dispatch center is offline.
The committee voted 12‑0 to forward the addendum to the full board for final action.
