Commission backs resolution authorizing state opioid settlements; county awaits specific payout details

Reagan read the list of companies included in the state's settlement negotiation: Purdue and eight others the transcript listed as Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Zydus, Alvogen and Amneal (county staff said they would provide any additional details as they become available). Reagan said the county currently does not have financial details of the settlements; he noted time-sensitive deadlines: a September deadline related to Purdue and an October 8 deadline for the other group of companies.
Commissioner Gray moved to forward the resolution authorizing the state to proceed with settlements as described; Commissioner Petty seconded. The commission approved the motion by voice vote. The motion authorizes the state-level settlement actions to proceed insofar as they determine amounts that will flow to the county; specific distribution amounts and timing were not provided at the work session.
Staff indicated they would update the commission when settlement terms and county allocations are known.
