The policy update also adds language verifying the district’s plan is subject to audit by the Ohio Department of Education and clarifies measurable academic goals aligned to Ohio Learning Standards.
Gifted-program staff said the changes reflect recent statutory edits and Department of Education expectations that districts document procedures and make reasonable attempts to communicate with families about identification and services. The board moved and approved the policy in a roll-call vote; discussion noted the revisions often arrive late in the summer because of state changes.
The vote was recorded in the meeting minutes; the policy will be posted as the district’s current gift identification plan and is available to parents under district procedures.
