The Keizer City Council on July 21 adopted an ordinance amending Keizer code sections 28-23 and 28-43 to require reservations for paid organized activities on city fields and to clarify when lighting may extend hours at the Keizer Rapids artificial turf fields. Council President Starr moved the ordinance; the council approved it unanimously.

The ordinance change to section 28-23 adds that "individuals/groups" who charge a fee for camps, training or other organized activities must reserve the field in advance. The change to section 28-43 keeps existing hours intact but adds the word "programming" to the turf-field lighting rule so that "lighting may extend the Keizer Rapids artificial turf fields hours year round. If no programming/games are scheduled, then the lighting will not occur and the hours will not be extended." Staff recommended the council approve the edits as the parks board proposed.
