Commission approves flood-ordinance amendment, budget transfers and multiple code updates; CAT resolution passes
Summary
Chatham County commissioners approved a package of ordinance amendments, budget transfers and a resolution addressing Chatham Area Transit Authority board membership at their meeting, moving several items to adoption or second reading.
Chatham County commissioners approved a set of administrative and code changes, budget transfers and a resolution affecting the Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) during their meeting.
The commission voted to take an amendment to Chapter 24, Article 1, the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (FDPO), off the table and then approved the ordinance amendment. The board also approved budget transfers and amendments, including a $32,496 transfer from contingency to recorder’s court salaries in the Special Service District Fund and a $48,000 increase to Greenbrier renovation project revenue and expenditures in the Capital Improvement Program.
The commission passed a resolution directing amendment of the local act that had been altered by House Bill 756 (2025) and which commissioners said had vacated the CAT board in a manner they contend conflicted with the Transit Authority Act, OCGA 32-9-9. Commissioners debated whether to table the measure; after discussion the motion passed.
