Commission postpones a single-family plan-development application indefinitely

The Garland Planning Commission voted unanimously Aug. 11 to postpone indefinitely file Z23-11, an application for a plan development with base zoning of Single-Family 7 (SF-7) for a single-family detached residential concept at 5702 North Jupiter (District 7).
Staff explained the applicant had presented multiple zoning options and requested additional time to settle on an approach. A staff speaker said they recommended the item be tabled to a future meeting so the applicant could “get all his ducks in a row.”
Commissioner Rose moved to postpone the application indefinitely; Commissioner Duckworth seconded. The commission conducted the vote with the new voting system and the motion passed unanimously. The planner noted that speaker cards on the item would be deferred because the application would not move forward that evening.
Because the item was postponed indefinitely, no substantive presentations or public testimony on the merits of the proposed SF-7 plan development occurred at this meeting.
