New Conifer Library open; staff hours, programs and self-service plans announced

Library staff announced that the new Conifer branch opened Sept. 2 and described hours, features and programs residents can use.
Jared Johnson, public services manager for the Conifer Library, said the 5,300-square-foot branch sits in the Safeway shopping complex off Highway 285 with parking directly in front of the entrance. Staffed hours match the summer high-school schedule: Monday noon–8 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday noon–5 p.m.
The space includes a study room with TV, flexible meeting rooms that can combine into a single program room, and separate children’s, teen and adult areas with mixed seating options. Johnson said the library will offer self-service access outside staffed hours — Monday–Saturday 5 a.m.–10 p.m. and Sunday 5 a.m.–6 p.m. — but that self-service had not yet launched. Patrons will be required to register to use the library during self-service hours, Johnson said, and staff can assist with registration during staffed hours.
Johnson listed several upcoming programs: story times Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.; "Let’s Dance" Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.; a Kids’ Chef program Sept. 20 (registration required, 13 spots remaining at the time of the meeting); a Welcome Teens program Sept. 30; an adult community book swap Oct. 4; and an adult watercolor workshop Oct. 5. He urged residents to visit jeffco.library.org for the full program schedule or to stop by the branch for handouts.
