Commission OKs $3,500 for county schools program from annual allocations

Jackson County commissioners on Aug. 11 approved $3,500 in funding support for a school program run by a regional delivery and learning foundation for the 2025-2026 school year.
A regional foundation representative asked the commission to renew support for the program and provided a school-by-school allocation in the meeting packet. The presenter said last year the county provided $3,400 and asked for approval of $3,500 for the coming school year. "If not, do I have a motion to approve funding support? There would be 1, in the amount of 3,500," the presenter said.
A motion to approve the requested funding received a second and carried on a voice vote. The presenter said funds are typically provided in October; county staff will record the allocation in the county budget and provide the appropriation to the program according to the usual schedule.
The packet provided to commissioners included a breakout showing allocations for 14 county schools and three schools in the city of Scottsboro; the presenter noted the detailed breakdown was included in commissioners' materials.
