The School Board of Manatee County voted unanimously Sept. 16 to reclassify the district’s licensed practical nurse positions and increase pay to align with industry standards, a change district HR staff said was necessary to fill longstanding vacancies.
Superintendent Dr. Lori Breslin told the board the HR analysis found many unfilled LPN positions that affected schools, and the reclassification will cost $66,574.26, to be paid from the general fund. Board members did not request further amendments and voted 5‑0 to approve the reclassification.
District staff said the reclassification is intended to make the positions competitive with market pay and reduce understaffing at school sites. The board approved the change as part of new business.
