Committee approves shared-use agreement with Pope John Paul II School

The Hendersonville Public Works Committee approved Resolution 2025-22, authorizing an agreement with Pope John Paul II School for shared use of city parks and the school's facilities.

Committee members said the measure authorizes a shared-use arrangement and does not transfer title to city land. Committee staff said the school has not asked for ownership of the property and that, at minimum, the city expects the school to assume maintenance responsibilities for facilities covered by the agreement. Committee members also said the city hopes to retain access to parking, pickleball and tennis courts, and practice fields when the school’s facilities are available.

The resolution was read during the meeting and adopted by voice vote; a committee member asked that Alderman Colvin Martin be listed as a co-sponsor. No mover or second was recorded in the public transcript.

The committee did not take up land transfer documents at the meeting. Staff said a formal land agreement — if needed — would be brought back to the committee at a later date for review and action.

Committee members requested that the full agreement return to the committee or council for final review before implementation so members could review maintenance responsibilities and access details.

The committee advanced the shared‑use agreement by adopting Resolution 2025-22 and will forward the recommended agreement for subsequent action as required by city procedure.
