Facilities report: construction on two new elementary schools and district projects proceeding on schedule

The Kennett Consolidated School District facilities update to the board detailed ongoing work across the district's capital projects and routine maintenance ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
The presentation said work on the new garden construction is on schedule, with a new water meter installed and exterior finishes in progress. The Greenwood Elementary project continues with structural steel, roof decking and exterior CMU work in multiple areas. The district office addition site has been cleared and is ready for construction, the Cannon High School auditorium received a new projection screen, and drop‑down electrical work and tree cleanup continued at Kennett High School.
At Kennett Middle School, crews began a bathroom conversion in Room B108 to provide a dedicated bathroom for the autistic support classroom; the district reported the conversion is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Rooftop HVAC updates continued at the Mary D. Lang kindergarten center with duct detectors being connected to the fire alarm system, and an LED retrofit of 78 library fixtures was completed there.
District custodial and grounds crews are finishing preparations for opening day; central maintenance returned summer‑school furniture and materials to buildings. Facilities staff also reported that the Kennett Township Police Department hosted a countywide canine training exercise at Kennett High School and that a new central maintenance hire, Josh Resendez, joined the team.
Board members thanked facilities staff for both major capital progress and day‑to‑day maintenance ahead of the school year.
