Ada County staff informed the Board of Commissioners that an HVAC replacement project at the Indigent Building (housing assessor functions) requires a larger-than-expected electrical upgrade and that procurement will present an emergency contract change order to the board this week.
Staff said the county had budgeted to remove the old VRF system and install new HVAC units, but a detailed analysis of the building’s electrical infrastructure identified the need to substantially upgrade electrical components. The work was discovered late Friday and design teams and the contractor have been pricing options. Staff provided a preliminary estimate of approximately $35,000 for the additional electrical work and said a detailed change order will be provided for the board’s signature.
County staff told the board the funds to cover the change order would come from savings within capital and operations project funds, not from the general fund. Staff said the change order would be posted and available for the board to act on at the upcoming Thursday meeting.
