Staff said the changes are mandatory; the commission held the statutory public hearing and had no substantive public comments on the amendments. Commissioners had the opportunity to comment; none requested revisions. The commission voted to forward the mandatory code updates to the Board of Supervisors, where final adoption will occur at the July meeting mentioned by staff.
Staff cautioned that because the updates are required by state law, the commission’s role is to hold the public hearing and forward the amendments rather than to alter the mandated provisions. The commission approved forwarding the updates with no additional local modifications recorded in the hearing.
