Valley County commissioners voted July 7 to accept a one-year donation of a 2025 GMC pickup from Kendall GMC for use by the sheriff's office to support mounted-unit operations, search-and-rescue and community events.
Sheriff Capari described the Kendall Cares program as a one-year vehicle donation that the donor marks with removable vinyl for publicity. The sheriff said deputies will use the truck to pull horses for search-and-rescue missions, trips to Yellow Pine, parades and other county needs. The sheriff and commissioners said the county's only recurring expenses will be fuel and insurance while the county is using the vehicle.
Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to accept the donation and approved it by voice vote. The sheriff said the donor is listed on the truck and commissioners agreed to send a county thank-you note.
No purchase, long-term lease or capital-asset commitment was discussed; the donation was described as a one-year arrangement after which Kendall GMC may remove vinyl and reassign the vehicle. The sheriff confirmed a photo of the truck had been prepared for the board to review.
The board's action formalizes county acceptance of the donated vehicle for the 2025 season and directs staff to send acknowledgement to Kendall GMC.
