Conservation board discusses Natural Resources Inventory, timing for Open Space Inventory update and grant options

At the June 26 meeting the Grand Island Conservation Advisory Board reviewed progress on the town’s Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) and debated the timing and scope of updating the 2019 Open Space Inventory (OSI) before moving into an open-space plan.
A board member reported the NRI work is on schedule under contract; two meetings have been held and the consultant is expected to present additional material at a planned August meeting. Consultants have been interviewing local residents and longtime island observers (named in the meeting as Paul Luckner, Ken Robley, Roger Cook and others) for historical context that will feed into mapping and recommendations.
