Escondido launches preapproved ADU plans; eight applications submitted since January

Associate Planner Priscilla Roldan told the Escondido Planning Commission that the city has launched a preapproved accessory dwelling unit (ADU) program, and that eight preapproved ADU applications had been submitted and were under review.
"The city launched the preapproved ADU program, in January of this year, and since we received a total of 8 applications. These 8 applications are still under review," Roldan said. She said the program was developed with consultant RRM using a LEAP grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development and that the work implements Program 2.1 of the city’s housing element.
