Council members and residents raised concerns about a pack of loose dogs in town and other wildlife encounters. A county law-enforcement representative (unnamed in the transcript) summarized legal limits on using lethal force against a dog: use is only authorized when protecting oneself, family or property from an attacking animal, and such actions carry legal consequences if not justified. The representative advised that anyone taking lethal action should ensure the animal remains on their property and contact the sheriff's office immediately afterward.
