Commission notes closed-session items, recognizes 112 county employees

The Mendocino County Personnel Commission moved into closed session under Government Code section 54957(b) to consider employment appeals and public employee performance evaluations and returned to open session later in the meeting.

When the commission reported out, staff stated that action on one public employee item (item 5b) was unanimous. The meeting record did not provide details of findings, sanctions, or personnel decisions in open session.

Earlier in the meeting, the commission opened an opportunity (item 4) for employee organization representatives to address the commission; no representative offered substantive comment.

Assistant Human Resources Director Denise Bartleme provided an informational update about employee recognition. Bartleme said 112 county employees were recognized for county service spanning one to 30 years and that a reception followed the June 24 Board of Supervisors meeting. She also reported merit-step increases: three employees received a one-step increase and two employees received two-step increases during the April–June period.

The commission adjourned the meeting at approximately 12:00 p.m.
