Wright County drainage trustees received a petition from Robert and Don Latham asking that privately installed tile connected to Lateral 5 of Joint Drainage District 1‑11‑3 be made a district asset. The petition, which included two signatures, was presented during a conference call that included Franklin County trustees; officials said the work would be entirely within Wright County and would not impose costs on Franklin County landowners.
Trustees recorded a motion to receive the petition and to appoint an engineer for the project; the motion carried. The petitioners asked that a previously installed private tile and approximately 100 feet of lateral be accepted as a district responsibility. Trustees noted the project is fully within Wright County and, as described by staff, would have no financial effect on Franklin County landowners.
The board did not record an engineering cost estimate in the meeting minutes. Trustees indicated they would follow statutory notice and appointment procedures and bring the matter back with engineering input for any required public hearing or assessment process.
