Commissioner pulls procurement award from consent agenda after large price discrepancy noted

During consideration of the consent agenda, Commissioner Hale asked to pull agenda item 1F2 for questions about the procurement results and asked staff to provide additional information within one week.
Hale said the packet showed two responses with “such a big delta” in price: one quote reflected roughly $105,000 for a three-year contract while another showed roughly $505,000 for a one-year term. Hale noted the term lengths were mismatched and sought operations’ input before the court approved the award.
Purchasing agent Michelle Srinoski explained the procurement process on the record, saying the county issues specifications and evaluates cooperative quotes for compliance, references and financial responsibility. She offered to “look further into this” and provided staff’s willingness to report back.
The presiding judge agreed to hold item 1F2 “for a week” and the remainder of the consent agenda was approved by voice vote. Purchasing was directed to return with clarification of the price and term differences on the held item.
