District operations staff updated the board on progress at the high school addition, reporting that concrete, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and finishing trades are substantially underway and that many systems are being commissioned.
Staff said both north and south mechanical plants are operational and crews repaired an issue with bundles inside the ice storage tanks; air handlers and other systems are being brought online. Work remaining includes final fixtures in restrooms and labs, ceiling installation in science and arts wings, acoustical work in the multi-purpose "pack," storefront glass installation and final flooring and painting. Bleachers and theater equipment are installed and furniture deliveries have begun.
District staff said they expect some temporary disruptions on the older portion of the building where staging will be required. The transcript records two timing references for temporary occupancy of portions of the new classrooms: administrators said some areas could reach temporary occupancy as early as July, while another staff speaker (Jan) later referenced a January 7 temporary-occupancy target. The transcript does not reconcile the discrepancy; both statements are reported here.
Other capital projects noted included progress on a bus-barn/operations-shop project, fencing and lighting at athletic facilities, sidewalk work and plans for a bus loop at Frontier pending city review.
