Baseball stadium site work under way; experience center planned for fall

Construction activities at the baseball stadium site are underway, board members heard on May 22.
Staff and project representatives said site grading has begun, with about 100,000 cubic feet of earth planned to be moved between the meeting date and July 1. Test piling began on May 12 and will continue through the following week; production piling is scheduled to start soon after. A trailer compound on site is reported to be about 75% complete and the joint-venture construction team will begin mobilizing cranes in late June or early July. Shallow foundation work is expected to begin July 1.
Staff said the team is organizing a ceremonial groundbreaking but has not yet set a date because of scheduling challenges for elected officials and other stakeholders. The project team will report back to the board at the next meeting with more developed construction updates.
Separately, the team said it plans to open an experience center at the Uncommons by late September or early October that will include experiential elements and will offer ticket sales. Staff emphasized design work remains in the construction-document phase but renderings and major design elements presented earlier remain intact.
The update was informational and required no board action.
