Halifax County adopts revised personnel policy; changes take effect July 1
The board approved a comprehensive update to the county personnel policy that consolidates prior documents, clarifies probationary transfers, expands shared-leave eligibility tied to FMLA eligibility and folds travel and appearance rules into the main policy. The changes become effective July 1, 2025.

Halifax County commissioners voted June 2 to adopt an updated, consolidated personnel policy designed to replace earlier separate documents (standard operating procedures manual and employee handbook) and to reflect legal and administrative changes identified after three years of using the current policy.
