Commission finalizes enforcement-recommendation approach and discusses training options

At the June 5 meeting commissioners confirmed they are ready to forward a draft enforcement-recommendation package to the town. The draft recommends a graduated 30‑, 60‑, 90‑day sequence for enforcement notices and consistent cross‑ordinance procedures so the town’s enforcement approach is congruent across different codes.
Acting Chair Marcia Haydenfeld and other commissioners said the commission’s work on enforcement was sufficiently developed to hand the recommendations to town staff and the council for review. One commissioner reported Amanda had already printed a copy for the mayor.
Commissioners also discussed training options. Staff summarized CivicLink/ULCT training materials funded at no cost to communities through a state funding mechanism (a 1% building‑permit surcharge). Commissioners agreed to divide training topics, suggested some trainings everyone take (for example the renewable-energy topic ahead of ordinance work), and asked staff to distribute available training links and to coordinate assignments among commissioners.
The commission did not take a formal enforcement action at the meeting; members agreed to forward the recommendation package to town staff/council for consideration.
