The City of McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7-0 on June 10, 2025, to continue two separate requests to zone properties to Agricultural (AG) zoning until the commission's June 24 meeting after staff reported notification errors.
Staff planner Jake Bennett told the commission that both items — case 250060Z (property on the west side of Trinity Falls Parkway) and case 250063Z (property approximately 90 feet east of Spur 195) — should be tabled because of notification errors and that staff recommended continuing the public hearings to the June 24, 2025 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The commission opened the public hearings, received no speakers, and then voted to continue both items.
The commission’s motions to continue were made and seconded on the record and carried by unanimous votes of 7-0 for each item. No substantive discussion or public testimony occurred before the votes because the hearings were continued for re-notification. Staff indicated the continuances were procedural to allow corrected notices to be sent and to ensure affected property owners have opportunity to comment at the next hearing.
Because the items were continued, no final zoning actions or conditions were adopted at the June 10 meeting. Each case will return to the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 24, 2025, for further public hearing and potential action.
