Hays County on June 10 authorized a professional services contract with Alfred Benich and Company to produce traffic modeling and 3‑D visualizations for the Old Kyle Road project in Wimberley.
Commissioner Smith said the work will give residents and business owners a clearer picture of proposed options — including a one‑way conversion that has been controversial locally — and help the city and county communicate design differences in plain language. The visualization will show two alternatives to help stakeholders see what each option would look like in place, reducing misunderstanding and easing public outreach. The contract was approved by roll call vote.
County staff noted the modeling is a communication and technical tool and does not itself decide the final alignment; the city of Wimberley and county will continue to coordinate on final design choices and public engagement timelines.
