Wright County adopts budget amendment increasing expenses $376,978

The Wright County Board of Supervisors on June 2 adopted Resolution 2025-20 to amend the county’s current fiscal-year 2024–25 budget, increasing total county expenditures by $376,978 and estimated revenues by $260,041.

Courtney Morris, branch administrator, presented the proposed amendment and a department-by-department breakdown of increases and decreases during a public hearing the board opened and then closed before voting. The amendment as presented lists the total expense increase as $376,978 and a revenue increase of $260,041, with line-item allocations to specific departments and funds included in the resolution.

The board opened a public hearing on the proposed amendment; no correspondence was submitted and no speakers provided testimony at the hearing. After brief discussion about where the additional revenue and expense lines were allocated, a supervisor moved to adopt Resolution 2025-20, budget amendment No. 2 to the 2024–25 budget. The motion carried on a unanimous vote.

The amendment will allow departments identified in the resolution to spend and receive the listed amounts; the resolution itemizes which funds and departments will receive increases and decreases. Morris said the amendment mirrors corresponding changes submitted for the secondary roads budget in order to keep county and road fund figures aligned.

The board recorded the resolution number as 2025-20. The amendment as approved increases total expenses by $376,978 and increases revenues by $260,041 as shown in the resolution materials submitted to the board. The board’s action authorizes the county auditor to adjust fund balances and accounting records consistent with the resolution.

The county did not specify any additional deadlines tied to the amendment; staff said expenditure and reimbursement timing for some projects (for example, construction and bridge reimbursement) will depend on project schedules and state reimbursements.
