Commission orders county report to include leased properties as well as conveyed parcels

After discussion, the board expanded a report on county-owned property compliance to include properties leased by the county, directing administration to include leased parcels and defaults in future reports.
Commissioners voted May 20 to expand a previously requested report on property conveyed by deed to also include county-leased properties.
The change grew out of a request during discussion of a report on properties conveyed by deed that had been required to meet conditions. A commissioner noted the county also leases sites and asked the administration to track leased properties that may be in default or noncompliant so the board would not be surprised later.
Commissioner Bermudez moved the expansion; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board instructed staff to include leased county properties in future condition-compliance reports and to flag leases in default for earlier notice to the commission.
The action is intended to give commissioners visibility into both deeded and leased county properties that are subject to compliance requirements and to avoid surprises if lessees fall into default.
