Airport planning staff updated the Cache County Airport Authority Board on capital projects, including a state-funded pavement maintenance item scheduled for 2026 that will tackle taxiway Bravo and other taxi lanes, and project timing that could enable economies of scale if local work is bundled into the state bid.
Staff listed ongoing projects: taxi lane Kilo, taxiway Charlie, SRE (snow removal equipment) procurement, paint work, PAPI (precision approach path indicator) review and an FAA-required master plan that remains under FAA airspace review. The master plan is under FAA review and staff said review times vary widely (they said FAA typically has about 90 days but have seen two months to 11 months in practice).
Survey deliverables for taxi lane projects were delayed but have now returned; specifications, phasing plans and engineer reports are largely complete pending final DWG survey files. The SRE procurement process is under specification and will go through public acquisition rules; staff warned equipment lead times for snow and rescue vehicles can be long—sometimes a year or more—so vendors’ stock availability will affect delivery schedules. Staff suggested investigating local funding for PAPI installation as a potential cost-saving option.
Board members asked about tentative pre-bid dates; staff said bidding could begin at the end of the month or the first part of next month and that the goal was to complete work before the local batch plant closes for the season.
