Insurance committee recommends renewals, approves Humira biosimilar program for group coverage

The Bossier Parish School Board's insurance committee on May 22 recommended renewal of multiple district insurance policies and approved a plan to add a Humira biosimilar program to group coverage starting Sept. 1, 2025.

Robert Bertrand, committee chair, told the full board the committee unanimously recommended renewal of crime, employee dishonesty and cyber risk liability insurance for one year and renewal of student accident insurance for one year; both items passed when reported out of committee. Bertrand said the committee also recommended group insurance premium adjustments (effective 09/01/2025) and other benefits modifications (discussion only; no action taken on benefit modifications at committee).

Jason Allman of the Allman Group presented committee members with claims history and cost information and reviewed the district's $0 copay program; Bertrand characterized that portion of the meeting as discussion only.

On the Humira program, Bertrand reported the committee recommended approving a Humira biosimilar program for group insurance effective Sept. 1, 2025; that recommendation passed out of committee and was reported as "Item passes" to the full board.
