He noted the county will need to verify network and camera requirements for the courthouse renovation to ensure monitoring and camera systems are included in the construction scope and confirmed IT will coordinate with facilities and purchasing on those costs.
Addressing email security, Nathan recommended a formal policy that requires MFA for county email accounts. He said MFA is already active for IT staff and certain individual accounts and that rolling MFA out department‑by‑department would reduce the risk of compromised email. Nathan and county staff discussed implementation exceptions and accommodations for staff who lack devices to receive MFA prompts and agreed IT would coordinate with county counsel to draft a policy for the court’s formal adoption.
No formal vote was recorded at the meeting; Nathan said he will work with civil counsel to draft an enforceable MFA policy for Commissioners Court consideration.
